Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) Manager
📍 Wilmington, NC | 🏢 Global Laser Enrichment (GLE)
🕒 Full-Time | On-Site
🔐 Q-Clearance Required or Eligible

At Global Laser Enrichment (GLE), safety is integral to innovation. We are seeking an experienced Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) Manager to lead and maintain the technical rigor, quality, and regulatory compliance of GLE’s integrated safety analyses for both our Test Loop facility and planned production-scale uranium enrichment facility.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is central to ensuring hazards are systematically identified, safety controls are clearly defined and traceable, and ISA documentation remains accurate as designs and operations evolve. You will work across engineering, operations, licensing, and safety teams to support sound decision-making and regulatory success.

🌟 Why Join GLE?

  • Lead safety analysis for first-of-a-kind nuclear technology.

  • Influence design and operational decisions with direct safety insight.

  • Work in a mission-driven organization advancing clean energy and national security.

  • Competitive compensation, strong benefits, and long-term growth opportunity.

🧩 What You’ll Do

ISA Program Leadership:

  • Prepare and maintain ISA licensing and regulatory deliverables aligned with 10 CFR 70.62, NUREG-1513, and NRC guidance.

  • Ensure ISA work products are technically defensible, reproducible, and fully traceable from hazards to controls and implementation.

  • Define expectations and provide technical oversight for internal and contractor ISA contributors.

  • Advise leadership on ISA strategy, risk insights, IROFS prioritization, and impacts of design or operational changes.

  • Develop and maintain ISA procedures, templates, checklists, and training materials.

Hazard Identification & Safety Basis Development:

  • Lead structured hazard analyses such as HAZOP, What-If/Checklist, and FMEA.

  • Identify credible accident sequences affecting workers, the public, or the environment.

  • Develop accident scenarios, assumptions, and supporting rationale.

  • Designate and document Items Relied on for Safety (IROFS) consistent with 10 CFR 70.61.

  • Define IROFS functional expectations and ensure alignment with design, procedures, and operations.

  • Develop and apply management measures to ensure IROFS availability and reliability.

  • Coordinate IROFS implementation with Engineering, Operations, EHS, Quality, and Licensing.

Regulatory & External Interface:

  • Support technical portions of regulatory and licensing submittals.

  • Coordinate external consultants and reviewers to ensure scope, quality, and schedule alignment.

Cross-Functional Integration & Continuous Improvement:

  • Provide ISA guidance during design reviews, readiness reviews, and procedure development.

  • Communicate safety basis expectations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Identify gaps, lessons learned, and corrective actions related to hazard analysis effectiveness.

  • Monitor implementation of controls and documentation updates, escalating risks as needed.

📘 What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in nuclear engineering, nuclear operations, or nuclear safety.

  • 2+ years working in a nuclear operations environment.

  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across disciplines.

  • Excellent time management and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DOE/NRC Q-Clearance.

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% and work extended hours as needed.

🎯 Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DOE/NRC Q-Clearance or DOD Top Secret.

  • Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or related discipline.

  • Experience in the nuclear fuel cycle, including uranium enrichment and UF6 handling.

  • Background in EPC, commissioning, or operation of nuclear or chemical processing facilities.

  • Familiarity with NRC licensing, nuclear safety regulations, and NQA-1 / ISO quality systems.

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to guide teams through ambiguity.

🔐 Important Note

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOE/NRC Q-Clearance are required.
