ISB Cafe Evening Coordinator

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role will be to provide evening cafe coordination support to ensure all of cafe operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Evening Operations

• Oversee all evening café operations to ensure smooth, efficient service.
• Supervise evening staff and assign daily responsibilities.
• Open and close the café according to established procedures.
• Resolve operational issues and customer concerns professionally.
• Ensure all policies, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Cooking & Meal Preparation
• Prepare and cook menu items according to ISB Café recipes and quality standards.
• Assist with daily food preparation, including ingredient prep, portioning, and cooking.
• Monitor food quality, freshness, and presentation.
• Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and inventory rotation (FIFO).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen workstations.
• Assist in developing efficient kitchen workflows to support service during busy periods.

Customer Service

• Provide friendly and professional service to café guests.
• Assist at the front counter when needed, including taking orders, operating the POS system, and handling payments.
• Ensure customers receive accurate orders in a timely manner.

Staff Leadership

• Lead by example and foster a positive team environment.
• Train and support evening staff on café procedures and customer service expectations.
• Monitor staff performance and communicate concerns or recommendations to café management.
• Ensure appropriate staffing coverage throughout each shift.

Closing & Facility Responsibilities

• Ensure all food is properly stored and kitchen equipment is shut down safely.
• Oversee nightly cleaning of the kitchen, dining area, serving stations, and storage areas.
• Verify that dishes, utensils, and equipment are cleaned and put away.
• Complete closing checklists and secure the café before leaving.
• Report maintenance, inventory, or equipment issues to management.

Inventory & Food Management

• Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies are running low.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing inventory.
• Help minimize food waste through proper planning and inventory control.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service, restaurant operations, or café management preferred.
• Experience with cooking and food preparation required.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Food Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
