Job Summary

The IT Analyst — Systems Analysis is responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and improving information systems to ensure they effectively support business and operational requirements. This position works closely with business users, software developers, system administrators, database teams, and project managers to identify system requirements, resolve technical and functional issues, and support the design, implementation, and optimization of IT solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing information systems, applications, workflows, and technology processes.

• Evaluate system functionality and identify gaps, inefficiencies, performance issues, and opportunities for improvement.

• Gather and document functional and technical system requirements from business and IT stakeholders.

• Analyze business processes and determine how systems can be improved to support organizational objectives.

• Develop system specifications, functional requirements, use cases, process flows, and technical documentation.

• Collaborate with developers, architects, database administrators, infrastructure teams, and business users.

• Evaluate proposed system solutions and provide recommendations based on business requirements, technical feasibility, cost, and operational impact.

• Analyze system integrations, interfaces, data flows, and dependencies between applications.

• Support the design, configuration, testing, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems.

• Conduct system and data analysis to identify errors, inconsistencies, performance issues, and potential improvements.

• Write and execute SQL queries to investigate data and system issues where applicable.

• Support application upgrades, enhancements, migrations, and system implementations.

• Develop test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for system changes and enhancements.

• Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system testing, and regression testing.

• Document defects, investigate root causes, and coordinate resolutions with technical teams.

• Monitor system performance and assist with troubleshooting recurring system issues.

• Analyze system incidents and service requests and recommend long-term solutions.

• Support data migration, data mapping, validation, and reconciliation activities.

• Maintain system documentation, configuration information, process diagrams, and technical specifications.

• Assist with system security, access controls, data integrity, and compliance requirements.

• Participate in IT projects, system implementations, and technology improvement initiatives.

• Provide training, documentation, and support to system users when required.

• Monitor implemented solutions and gather feedback to identify additional system improvements.

• Recommend system enhancements that improve reliability, efficiency, scalability, and user experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• 2–5 years of experience in systems analysis, IT analysis, application support, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of information systems, software applications, databases, and system development concepts.

• Experience gathering and documenting functional and technical requirements.

• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

• Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.

• Experience with system testing, troubleshooting, and defect management.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, or financial systems.

• Knowledge of APIs, web services, system integrations, and data interfaces.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Knowledge of database technologies and data modeling.

• Experience with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid development methodologies.

• Knowledge of cybersecurity, access management, and IT governance.

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis and reporting tools.

• Experience with application migrations, system upgrades, or digital transformation projects.

• ITIL, CBAP, CCBA, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
