Janitorial Equipment Technician

POSITION SUMMARY
The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overall serviceability of commercial janitorial and floor-care equipment. Equipment includes autonomous/robotic scrubbers, riding and walk-behind scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers, extractors, vacuums, and other powered cleaning equipment.
This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate service records, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment and parts inventories, and providing routine reports to management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on janitorial and floor-care equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, battery, charging, motor, pump, and other equipment-related problems.
• Maintain and repair autonomous scrubbers, riding and walk-behind scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers, extractors, vacuums, and related equipment.
• Ensure equipment is safe and fully operational before returning it to service.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and complete required services in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
• Maintain accurate electronic service histories for each piece of equipment, including repairs, parts replaced, and equipment status.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, replacement parts, batteries, chargers, brushes, squeegees, filters, and other repair supplies.
• Monitor parts inventory and request replacements as needed to minimize equipment downtime.
• Coordinate warranty repairs, manufacturer support, and outside vendor service when necessary.
• Maintain an organized and safe equipment repair and parts storage area.
• Enter maintenance and inventory information into company spreadsheets, databases, or maintenance systems.
• Prepare preventive maintenance, equipment status, repair, downtime, and inventory reports for management.

QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or mechanical training preferred.
• Previous experience repairing commercial janitorial, floor-care, industrial, or similar equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and battery-powered equipment troubleshooting.
• Experience with autonomous or robotic cleaning equipment is preferred.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, parts diagrams, and manufacturer maintenance requirements.
• Must be computer literate and proficient with email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic recordkeeping.
• Ability to maintain spreadsheets, service logs, inventory records, and generate management reports.
• Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and time-management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, operations personnel, vendors, and equipment manufacturers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work around or underneath equipment.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, parts, batteries, and supplies within company safety requirements.
• Ability to work in equipment rooms, maintenance areas, garages, and active janitorial environments.

Benefits:

Full-Time 
Pay rate $27 to $32 an hour depending on experience
Hours 40 hrs/week, 7:00 AM to 3:30PM
