Architectural Job Captain
San Diego, Chicago or San Francisco (Hybrid)

Our client, an established architecture firm, is seeking an experienced Job Captain to coordinate the technical development of projects, guide production teams, and help deliver complete, accurate construction documents.

This role is for someone who can work independently, resolve complex technical issues, coordinate consultants, and provide clear direction to other team members while working closely with the Project Manager.

Recent professional experience on multifamily residential projects is required. Academic projects or internships alone do not meet this requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate architectural documentation from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Organize assignments and guide the production team in completing coordinated construction document sets.
  • Develop and review architectural details, drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve technical and documentation issues.
  • Coordinate architectural work with consultants, contractors, review agencies, and other project disciplines.
  • Lead consultant coordination meetings and communicate decisions to the project team.
  • Review and redline documents for accuracy, completeness, coordination, and constructability.
  • Contribute to QA/QC reviews and construction administration.
  • Track progress against project schedules and raise potential issues with the Project Manager.
  • Provide technical guidance to less-experienced team members.

Qualifications

  • At least eight years of professional architectural experience.
  • Recent professional experience on multifamily residential projects.
  • Experience supporting projects from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Strong Revit skills and experience producing complete construction document sets.
  • Knowledge of building codes, construction methods, consultant coordination, and QA/QC.
  • Ability to guide a production team while remaining hands-on with technical project work.
  • Professional degree in architecture preferred.
  • Architectural licensure preferred but not required.

Location and Work Authorization

This is a hybrid position that may be based in San Diego, Chicago, or San Francisco. San Diego and Chicago are the current priorities. Candidates must be able to work from one of these offices on required in-office days. Relocation assistance is not available.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.
