Job Description - Journeyman Commercial Electrician-Trainer

As part of the Quanta Services family of operating companies, Northwest Lineman College (NLC) has been setting an exceptional standard of training for electric power linemen in all levels of trade experience since 1993. The great news is NLC is growing and expanding into new industries through Grid Training Corporation (dba Grid Solutions), set to deliver customized training and on-demand craft labor needs for large infrastructure projects - which is creating exciting opportunities! 

 

Our training programs include a need for entry-level electricians (construction wiremen) to meet the growth and demand we currently face. We are seeking licensed journeyman inside wiremen to join our training team to help develop and mentor the next generation of inside wiremen through hands-on and academic instruction. Position Overview






NLC Trainers uphold the integrity of educational methods, curriculum standards, and behavior expectations, ensuring company core values are being met.  Individuals in this role act as mentors, continually inspiring others to excel and succeed, ensuring students are prepared to enter the workforce and be successful in high quality apprenticeship programs. 

We’re looking for driven coaches, leaders, and trade professionals ready to do more with their expertise. Teaching experience is not required-we invest in you from day one giving you the tools, training, and mentorship to grow to an elite educator and leader to make a lasting impact.

 

*ON-SITE POSITION BASED OUT OF SANTA TERESA, NM
*RESIDENCE WITHIN A 60-MILE RADIUS OF TRAINING FACILITY REQUIRED; RELOCATION ASSISTANCE OFFERED
*20% TRAVEL REQUIRED
*BILINGUAL PROFICIENCY IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH PREFERRED (VERBAL & WRITTEN)

 

 









In this position you will have the opportunity to:






  • Conduct field and classroom training.
  • Prepare for knowledge and skill delivery each term in a proactive manner.
  • Maintain updated and current knowledge on all programs and catalogs. 
  • Identify short falls and provide solutions ensuring the campus is always ready to deliver training. 
  • Work with department leadership to identify and resolve areas of improvement and set professional goals. 
  • Identify and recommend innovative approaches to training sessions, such as new materials, methodologies, and activities to enhance the learning experience of our students. 
  • Encourage and inspire students and co-workers while contributing to a work environment that promotes teamwork and respect. 
  • Represent a “What’s best for the student?” mindset. 








Required Education & Experience






  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current, licensed journeyman electrician
  • Eligible and willing to secure first aid, CPR, and AED certification
  • Good driving record (must be insurable)








Technical Requirements/ Core Competencies






  • Passion for training with ability to effectively train others in a classroom and field environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications (first aid, CPR and AED).
  • Proficiency in all programs and course competencies.
  • Knowledge of and/or certifications in regulations applying to craft trades (OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.)
  • Body weight must not exceed 265 pounds to stay compliant with OSHA fall protection requirements.
  • Personal mobility, manual dexterity, flexibility, and balance to work in a classroom or field setting, stand or sit for extended periods of time, bend and reach to move items weighing up to 65 pounds.
  • Physically capable of repeatedly performing all job functions associated with their craft.
  • Stamina to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions and noise.
  • Proficient in the use of computers with ability to easily learn and navigate new software.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred (verbal and written).
