Jr. Designer L1-2, Regional Electrical Engineering

The Junior Designer is a valuable entry level engineering team member. In this position you will analyze systems, provide design support on projects to improve Con Edisons electric distribution systems, develop solutions to satisfy our customers electric service needs, produce high quality construction layouts, and update system configuration drawings. To be successful in the position, you must be able to work with diverse teams, learn about Con Edisons distribution system, become proficient with our engineering analysis tools & CAD software, and be able to work both independently and as part of a project team. To be considered for the position, you must meet the position qualifications and successfully complete an aptitude test and in-person structured interview.

• The Junior Designer will conduct engineering analysis to determine the adequacy of electric distribution system components
• Design projects to reinforce electric distribution system components
• Develop detailed construction drawings for work which includes drawings and instructions for the installation, maintenance, modification, or removal of system components
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to generate engineering prints and construction drawings
• Update prints to capture current system configurations
• Provide engineering support during system emergencies to maintain or restore service to customers
• Selected candidates may be assigned to work in either the Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Westchester based on business needs

• High School Diploma/GED and 2 years Design Work Experience or
• Associate's Degree In Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Technology

• Competent in the use of Auto-Cad to generate drawings.
• Ability to interpret basic information on drawings.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
• Demonstrated analytical skills
• Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
• Performs work independently with minimal supervision

• Driver's License Required

• Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
• Possess manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for the duration of the workday
• Stand to use/operate office equipment for the duration of the workday
• Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends and holidays

• The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
