Junior Software Engineer

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Location: local to Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate

Travel: 5% travel, if any. There are occasional in-person technology summits for training, development, and team building.

Job Description

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to: 

• Develop high-quality software design and architecture
• Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
• Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code
• Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
• Review and debug code
• Perform validation and verification testing
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
• Document development phases and monitor systems 
• Ensure software is up to date with latest technologies

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s of Science/Arts in Computer Science or related degree
• Experience developing complex software in Python
• Must be a cool human being and enjoy working on limit pushing projects
• Extensive experience in software development, scripting, and project management 
• Experience with modern revision controls tools (i.e. SVN, git, etc.) 
• Ability to work independently and as a team 
• Excellent organization and leadership skills 
• Stellar communication and proven problem-solving skills
• Familiar with AI tools to write code, document, and debug
• Ability to work a standard 40-hour workweek, with flexibility to work additional hours as required by business needs

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of/Experience with Docker 
• Experience with AWS Lambda, real-time operating systems, and Linux based systems  
• Development + Testing experience
• Experience working on tooling and diagnostics 
• Experience in Machine Learning 
• In-depth knowledge of relational and time-series databases 
• Cloud based architectures using AWS and/or Azure
• Infrastructure as Code
