Job Description - Junior Staff Accountant



About the Role


Modern Amenities is a fast-growing startup managing several business entities. We're building our accounting function from the ground up and are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to join our team. This is a high-impact role with real opportunities to shape our financial processes, grow your career, and work across multiple business entities.


What You'll Do


General Accounting



  • Maintain accurate books across multiple entities in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Assist in preparing financial statements and internal management reports.

  • Help build and document accounting processes and controls as the company scales.


Accounts Payable & Receivable



  • Process vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and payment runs in a timely manner.

  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections follow-up, and cash application.

  • Reconcile AP/AR ledgers and resolve discrepancies promptly.

  • Coordinate wire transfers and ACH payments as needed.


Bookkeeping & Systems



  • Maintain clean, organized records across all entities.

  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations on a weekly basis.

  • Support the evaluation and implementation of accounting tools and workflows.

  • Work within QuickBooks and assist with Ramp expense management platform.


What We're Looking For


Required



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 2–3 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience.

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP principles and their practical application.

  • Proficiency in AP/AR, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to work US-based Pacific hours.


Nice to Have



  • Experience with Quickbooks, Stripe and Ramp (corporate card and expense management).

  • Familiarity with processing and reconciling bank transactions.

  • Prior experience in a startup or multi-entity environment.
