Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code for an extended 200-day academic year, with a daily schedule that is 60 minutes longer than traditional public schools. K–8 Music Teacher – Job Description:

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to lead its K–8 music program. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a strong foundation in music education to inspire students and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement the K–8 music curriculum in alignment with Core Knowledge standards.

• Deliver engaging lessons with clear learning objectives that promote artistic growth and musical literacy.

• Assess and report on student progress through regular evaluations, progress reports, and report cards.

• Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Specials Department and report to the assigned Assistant Director.

• Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment by following the School’s assertive discipline model.

• Attend all staff meetings and participate actively in professional development sessions.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education (required).

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

• Ability to assess student needs and adapt instruction accordingly.

• Problem-solving and data analysis skills to inform instructional practices.

• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

• Familiarity with state and federal education laws, as well as MVRCS policies.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Knowledge of music pedagogy and relevant educational practices.

• Ability to plan and deliver instruction that meets school and district goals and student needs.

• Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of hire.

This is an annual position and will be evaluated on a yearly basis.
