Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code for an extended 200-day academic year, with a daily schedule that is 60 minutes longer than traditional public schools. K–8 Music Teacher – Job Description:
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to lead its K–8 music program. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a strong foundation in music education to inspire students and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement the K–8 music curriculum in alignment with Core Knowledge standards.
Deliver engaging lessons with clear learning objectives that promote artistic growth and musical literacy.
Assess and report on student progress through regular evaluations, progress reports, and report cards.
Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Specials Department and report to the assigned Assistant Director.
Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment by following the School’s assertive discipline model.
Attend all staff meetings and participate actively in professional development sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education (required).
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to assess student needs and adapt instruction accordingly.
Problem-solving and data analysis skills to inform instructional practices.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Familiarity with state and federal education laws, as well as MVRCS policies.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Knowledge of music pedagogy and relevant educational practices.
Ability to plan and deliver instruction that meets school and district goals and student needs.
Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of hire.
This is an annual position and will be evaluated on a yearly basis.
