Kindergarten Teacher Assistant

Davidson Charter Academy is seeking a full-time Kindergarten Teacher Assistant to join our team!

We are looking for a dependable, energetic, and caring individual who enjoys working with young learners. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with the classroom teacher to support instruction, help students build foundational skills, and create a positive, engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, collaborative, and knowledgeable about child development and effective instructional practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with whole-class instruction and lead classroom activities as directed.


• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce skills, provide additional support, and offer enrichment.


• Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources.


• Help students stay engaged and participate in classroom activities.


• Monitor student progress and maintain records related to academic and behavioral goals.


• Grade assignments and record results as directed by the classroom teacher.


• Collaborate with the teacher daily to address student needs and support classroom routines.


• Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, during transitions, and throughout the school day.


• Reinforce school rules, behavior expectations, and safety procedures.


• Perform additional duties as assigned to support students, teachers, and school operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.


• At least one year of experience in an educational or childcare setting required.


• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.


• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.


• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.


• Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting young children’s academic and social development.

Pay & Benefits

• Pay: $16 per hour.


• Potential 3% local supplement.


• Employer 403(b) contribution match of up to 6%.


• 10 PTO days per year, with unused time rolling over until the maximum accrual is reached.

This position offers a one-year contract, with renewal contingent upon performance, fulfillment of job responsibilities, and available funding.
