REPORTS TO: General Manager of MD TRAVEL: Limited/Little
THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY: As the Lab Manager of a fast-growing Private Equity Backed Agriculture/Manufacturing/Retail company, you will be responsible for leading and managing all Cannabis Laboratory initiatives. You will be responsible for all Cannabis laboratory operations and the finalization of the buildout of a brand new laboratory. This position will also manage the lab team as it grows to meet the demand. Ultimately, this position can play a role in the development of new Cannabinoid products.
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
Oversees production by creating and reviewing production schedule; studying and clarifying specifications; calculating requirements; assembling and weighing plant materials and supplies for extraction.
QA/QC duties that require analytical testing for quality and consistency; data review
Operating highly sophisticated extraction equipment; Processing concentrates and extracts
Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment.
Operating, maintaining, and making adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment
Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware.
Creation of SOPs, training records, and related documentation
Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.
Reports to Executive Director on a bi-monthly basis with updates regarding production and processing schedule.
SKILLS
Knowledge of and hands on experience with Supercritical Extraction and Rotary Evaporation
Able to perform metabolic analysis HPLC and GC instrumentation
Able to process samples by collection, extraction, preparing for analysis, and quantifying results.
Familiar use of a wide range of pipettes and knowing their volume capabilities
Scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory
Scientific laboratory equipment and apparatus
Scientific methods of measurements
Health and safety practices and precautions applicable to a chemistry laboratory
Proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous wastes
Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories Recordkeeping procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
BS/BA Degree or greater with at least 4 years’ experience in a lab or manufacturing setting required
QA/QC experience with HPLC and GC analysis highly preferred
Scientific writing for processes, training, and procedures that require documentation
Must be at least 21 years of age
Ability to pass a comprehensive background check through the State of Maryland
