We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. \n\n \n\n## The impact you\u2019ll make\n\nAs a Laboratory Service Engineer 3 \u2013 RF Systems, you will play a critical role in supporting and advancing Lam\u2019s RF and plasma technology development in a fast\u2011paced R\u0026D lab environment. This role goes beyond routine lab support\u2014you will work hands\u2011on with high\u2011power RF subsystems, vacuum hardware, and prototype semiconductor equipment, directly contributing to concept, feasibility, and next\u2011generation product development. Your expertise will help ensure safe, reliable, and repeatable operation of complex RF systems used in etch and deposition applications.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do\n\n * Operate in an R\u0026D laboratory environment performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibration of RF, electrical, electromechanical, and vacuum equipment.\n * Assemble, test, calibrate, and diagnose high\u2011power, high\u2011voltage RF subsystems, including RF matching networks, sensors, and associated electronics.\n * Perform system\u2011level to PCBA\u2011level failure analysis, including board\u2011level validation, functional testing, and SMD rework as required.\n * Utilize advanced laboratory instrumentation such as VNAs, oscilloscopes, power meters, and digital multimeters to support RF characterization and troubleshooting.\n * Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fluidic, and vacuum\u2011based subsystems used in semiconductor processing equipment.\n * Support prototype equipment installation, bring\u2011up, and validation; develop and maintain procedures, test plans, and technical documentation.\n * Partner closely with cross\u2011functional teams\u2014including hardware engineering, process development, manufacturing, QA, firmware, and software\u2014to support R\u0026D activities, customer demos, NPI builds, and release milestones.\n * Manage and maintain RF laboratory infrastructure, including equipment calibration tracking, inventory control, prototype/sample management, and lab organization.\n * Ensure safe handling of high\u2011voltage RF systems, hazardous gases, and liquids by following required safety, ESD, and cleanroom protocols and using appropriate PPE.\n * Communicate priorities, issues, and test results clearly and proactively across multiple parallel tasks and stakeholders.\n\n\n\n## Who we\u2019re looking for\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 2+ years of relevant experience; or\n * Associate\u2019s degree in a technical field (electronics, RF, or equivalent) or equivalent military training with 4+ years of relevant hands\u2011on experience; or\n * Equivalent industry experience supporting RF, electrical, or semiconductor equipment in an R\u0026D or lab environment.\n\n\n\n## Preferred qualifications\n\n * Strong hands\u2011on experience with high\u2011power RF subsystems, RF matching networks, sensors, and calibration techniques.\n * Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical, electromechanical, fluidic, and vacuum systems at both system and board level.\n * Proficiency with lab and test equipment including VNAs, oscilloscopes, power meters, DMMs, and related RF instrumentation.\n * Experience performing board\u2011level debug, component\u2011level rework, and root\u2011cause failure analysis.\n * Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment, RF power delivery systems, or plasma processing tools.\n * Experience supporting prototype development, validation testing, and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.\n * Ability to work in cleanroom and lab environments while wearing required safety or cleanroom attire.\n * Strong organizational skills with experience managing lab assets, calibration schedules, and engineering testbeds.\n\n\n\n## Our commitment\n\n \n\nWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories \u2013 On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. \u2018On-site Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. \u2018Virtual Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.\n\nSalary\n\nSalary Range for this position: $56,100.00 - $123,000.00.\n\nThe above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside in California and most states. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
