Laboratory Technician Specialist Job Responsibilities:
The Laboratory Technical Specialist ensures quality specimens for Laboratory testing by recognizing pre analytical factors that adversely affect patient results.
Operates systems/methodologies in order to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control and proficiency testing.
Reports clinical data accurately and efficiently is expected.
Participates in departmental development by demonstrating operational knowledge and adhering to regulatory standards.
Communicates effectively and working cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
Follows standard protocol for patient/donor identification and specimen/blood product labeling including final verification.
Prepares and distributes specimens to departments according to specimen requirement and priority delivery
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in science from a college/university recognized by regional or national accreditation agency. Other acceptable forms of education will follow the guidelines of ASCP/AMT Board certification For TA +
Experience: 3 years of experience in an accredited laboratory under the supervision of a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology
Certification: American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Society Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board certification consistent with scope of responsibility to include: Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Technician (MLT), Histotechnician (HT), Histotechnologist (HTL).
