Laboratory Technician Opportunity
14 Scheduled Days Off Every 28-Day Rotation

United Initiators is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Quality Control team in Elyria, Ohio. In this role, you'll perform laboratory testing and quality control analysis that helps ensure products meet customer and internal specifications while supporting ISO-certified quality standards. You'll gain valuable experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment using analytical testing methods and contributing directly to product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Schedule
Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts providing 14 scheduled days off every 28-day rotation, including a built-in 7-day consecutive break. Shift hours are approximately 6:45 AM - 6:45 PM and 6:45 PM - 6:45 AM.

What You'll Do
- Perform chemical analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Conduct routine quality control testing following established laboratory procedures.
- Perform analytical testing using titration, gas chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, and other laboratory methods.
- Measure and evaluate product characteristics including pH, water content, conductivity, color, specific gravity, impurity levels, and other quality specifications.
- Collect, record, and analyze laboratory data to support process control and continuous improvement efforts.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory testing equipment.
- Prepare routine customer samples for shipment in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Responsible Care programs.
- Assist with audits, documentation reviews, laboratory recordkeeping, and compliance activities.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, inventory, and housekeeping standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working with chemicals and laboratory equipment.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field OR two years of comparable laboratory experience working with hazardous chemicals.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Ability to follow laboratory procedures, quality requirements, and safety practices.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hard hat, lab coat, gloves, and safety shoes.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and perform physical activities associated with a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related scientific field.
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing or quality control laboratory.
- Experience working with analytical laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience supporting ISO-regulated quality systems.
