Lead Baker and Pastry Chef

Forts Ferry Farm is a growing culinary business that creates small-batch baked goods, specialty foods, and luxurious pantry staples from our production kitchen in Latham thats sold in our flagship Farm Shoppe in Hudson, NY.

We're looking for someone who is excited to create beautifully made food, values craftsmanship and consistency.

Responsibilities

• Produce baked goods, prepared foods, freezer meals, and pantry items.


• Execute production schedules to meet retail demand.


• Follow recipes with precision and maintain production records.


• Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and food safety.


• Assist with recipe development and seasonal product launches.


• Manage kitchen organization, inventory, ingredient pars, and purchasing needs.


• Package products for retail and farm market sales.


• Help improve kitchen systems and production efficiency.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in a bakery, restaurant, catering, or food production environment.


• Strong baking and culinary skills with excellent attention to detail.


• Ability to scale recipes and work efficiently in a production setting. Organized, dependable, and able to work independently.


• Inventory and food cost experience preferred.


• ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


• Associate of Applied Science in Baking and Pastry Arts (AAS, AOS, AS)

Position Details

• Part-time (20–25 hours per week to start)


• $24–$28 per hour, based on experience


• Consistent daytime schedule with flexibility


• Opportunity to grow into a full-time leadership role
