Reports To: Human Resource Manager
Probationary Period: 90 days – Full time; 120-days Part Time
FLSA Status: Exempt (Salary)
Classification: Non-Child Related NA
Driver’s License: Level 0- No Driver’s License required.
Rate of Pay:   $62,130.43 to $69,896.74


Responsibilities


  • Assists in the recruiting, screening, and interviewing processes and ensures all processes follow all licensing, policy, procedures, and ordinances.

  • Handles management level recruitments for all HR locations as needed. 

  • Assists, trains, and monitors the Personnel Action Form process in the absence of the Human Resource Manager.

  • Coordinates, creates, and conducts New Employee Orientation and onboarding for all new employees ensuring that paperwork is up to date and completed in a timely manner. Recommends changes to improve NEO process. 

  • Develops, maintains, and implements HR forms, manuals, and related documentation in alignment with established procedures and organizational standards. 

  • Trains all HR staff as needed.

  • Collaborates with other Human Resource locations to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and ordinances are consistent.

  • The Lead Human Resource Specialist updates and monitors records, maintains and ensures completeness of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).

  • Attends meetings on behalf of HR as assigned. 

  • Monitors employee grievance process and facilitates as requested.

  • Collaborates with management on supervisory concerns including corrective actions and performance appraisals as requested.

  • Assists all Fond du Lac Human Resources sites as needed. 

  • Monitors and assists with the accurate, complete, and timely preparation of records, reports, and other documents. 

  • Prepares and processes personnel actions for the divisions and programs. Works with the payroll department to ensure that all personnel actions are correct and received in a timely manner.

  • Gathers information and statistics for reports.

  • In conjunction with Human Resource Management, develops forms for the Human Resource Division.

  • Assist in the updating and maintenance of all position descriptions.

  • Appropriate work attire is required.

  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.

  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.

  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems. 

  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.

  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.

  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.

  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary. 








Qualifications


  • No Driver’s License required.

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or closely related field, OR 3 years of professional experience in human resource setting, OR a combination of education and experience required

  • One year of experience working within a tribal government or similar organizational structure preferred. 

  • Tribal Human Resource Professional Certification (THRP) is preferred or obtained within 1 year of completing a probationary period. Employees are required to maintain their certification throughout the duration of their employment. This includes completing any necessary continuing education, renewal processes, and staying up to date on THRP practices.

  • Experience with Human Resource Information System applications preferred. 

  • Knowledge of computer applications including word processing, databases and/or data entry, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook is required.

  • The ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with Tribal  members, fostering positive relationships and honoring cultural values and community traditions.

  • Knowledge of Fond du Lac policies, procedures, applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances which relate to Human Resources is required within one year of hire. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required. 

  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required. 

  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required. 

  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved. 

  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.

  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks. 

  • Some travel may be required.
