LEAD HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Our client is a growing HVAC company in the Birmingham metro looking for a well-rounded residential tech who wants real ownership of the field side of the business. A call team handles dispatch, you get year-round 40-hour weeks, and a new bonus program rewards the work you close.

THE BASICS
Location: Homewood, AL
Pay: $35–$40/hour plus a bonus (SPIFF) program
Service Area: Birmingham metro area
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM standard day, 40 hours/week, year-round. Hours flex as calls require.
On-Call: Full on-call coverage for now, since this is the sole technician role. Moves to a rotation once a second tech is hired.
Reports To: Owner

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Run about 3 residential and light commercial service calls per day. The work is roughly 70% residential.
• Diagnose and repair furnaces, AC units, heat pumps, and mini-splits.
• Present repair, replacement, and maintenance membership options to homeowners and close sales on a company tablet.
• Quote full replacement jobs, including ductwork.
• Walk customers through their system and collect signatures and payment on site.
• Lead replacement installs from start to finish. That means kicking off the job with the homeowner, overseeing the install crew, and doing the quality inspections so the work is done right.
• Keep job notes, quotes, and customer records up to date in field service software.
• Work closely with the dispatch team and the owner throughout the day. You'll often be the lead decision-maker in the field.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• Solid residential HVAC service and repair experience
• Proven ability to sell in the home, including repairs, replacements, and maintenance memberships
• Ability to quote replacement jobs, including ductwork
• EPA 608 certification
• Clean, valid driver's license
• Your own basic hand tools
• Self-motivated and reliable, and comfortable working independently with minimal on-site supervision

Nice to Have (not required):

• Experience with field service management software
• Experience overseeing or quality-checking install crews
• Commercial HVAC experience
• Your own specialty tools
