  • This position requires full-time onsite work (5 days per week) in Juana Diaz, P.R.
  • This Supervisor will be leading the 3rd shift (night shift 10:00pm-6:30am) 

 

Scope:

Responsible for operations, working with team leaders on manufacturing production schedules and supervising insert and machine shop technicians, ensuring quality, manufacturing, and metrology processes meet CooperVision procedures and performance expectations. Ensure expected operational performance is achieved.

Description:

The Leader- Tooling  will play a crucial role in area performance KPI, people management (including development), and implementing solutions that optimize manufacturing processes. This position requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, a knack for problem solving, and passion for innovation. Challenge and work with current and new develop processes, focused on supporting business performance and cost reduction efforts. Perform, implement, and monitor assigned projects/ideas to achieve set KPI and comply with expected goals. Support the area by bringing and implementing performance, quality, and cost-effective improvement ideas.



Responsibilities

1.    Develops, designs, and improves systems for the Tool Center area.
2.    Requires use of CAD/CAM software for design and other solutions.
3.    Define and manage priorities of Tooling Activities (Insert, spare parts and general components).
4.    Identify, support, and monitor improvements based on business KPIs. 
5.    Support the new product introduction and global strategies.
6.    Establish area goals and objectives and enforce its attainment.
7.    Identify improvement ideas that could bring cost effective solutions.
8.    Providing technical solutions that increase utilization and reduce costs.
9.    Measuring equipment efficiency and implement opportunities for improvements in equipment performance.
10.    Assuring compliance with laws and regulations.
11.    Manage personnel vacations for non-exempts and coordinate non-exempts’ overtime. Assist in resources selection.
12.    Create and challenge purchase requisitions.
13.    Support accident/ Incident Investigation and identify improvements to avoid recurrence. Creating a safe working environment.  
14.    Responsible in execution of business continuity plan
15.    Support development of capital acquisition with financial justification to improve Business Operation.
16.    Support and manage validation activities such as:  Protocols, Execution, Deviations, and Reports.   
17.    Problem Solving through a structured approach to identify root causes.
 



Qualifications

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Strong knowledge in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing and analyzing tooling solutions.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling technologies.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and regulatory compliance in tooling design and manufacturing.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish languages.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective leadership by driving others to engage and achieve goals in a collaborative working environment.
  • Computer literate (Power Point, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Minitab)
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, think critically, and implement effective solutions.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, and responsible person.

 

 

Experience:

  • Three to Five years of experience with similar responsibilities in a regulated industry (medical devices/pharmaceutical highly desirable), in tooling operations.
  • Dedicated and experienced Tool Shop Operations Engineer/Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day functioning of tool shop. Possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in tooling operations, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or related field).
