Leadperson Shipping/Receiving

Job Summary

This position is responsible for instructing, directing and maintaining the workflow in the Shipping & Receiving Department of 3-6 people. This position also includes performing the tasks of a Shipper/Receiver along with ensuring end of day paperwork and carrier communication is completed. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for start and end of shift processes for the department. 
• Ensure the daily shipping and receiving schedule, all paperwork and carrier communication has been completed by end of day. 
• Prioritize department work by due date to ensure on time delivery.
• Generate continuous improvement ideas and work with the team to implement them. 
• Maintain strong working relationship with Logistics Manager, Purchasing & Production, Customer Relations, Accounting and other key personnel.
• Escalate plan deviations, department, safety, inventory or other issues to management as needed. 
• Perform assigned duties to ship finished products and also receive raw materials, unfinished parts and supplies (including weighing, assembling/palletizing goods on pallets, coordinating shipping schedules, printing labels, loading and unloading trucks, and following all company safety rules).
• Responsible for the storage and movement of materials within the facility and to select and prepare products for shipment to customers via forklift, pallet jack or cart. 
• Prepare bills of lading for shipments as needed.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, following 6S and place for every part procedures. 
• Follow all company safety rules and procedures.
• Use network and PC based computer programs.

Marginal

• Assist with building tasks as needed. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years related work experience.
• Must be compute literate.
• Requires the use of judgment in setting up shipments and contacting freight carriers.
• Ability to drive fork truck.
• Ability to work independently with no supervision.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass a basic skills test. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Ability to lead and direct work of team members.
