Learning Specialist III

Description
The Learning Specialist will play a leadership role in the efforts to coordinate and promote cross-departmental learning resources as well as to establish new resources for students, faculty, and staff. The Learning Specialist will plan and execute outreach initiatives to promote and support in the delivery of learning support resources to various campus stakeholders. This position reports to the Director of the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility in co-ordination with the Executive Director for Campus Accessibility & ADA/504 Coordinator.




As an equal priority, the Learning Specialist will work with the other staff members at the Goldman Center to facilitate the provision of reasonable accommodations services to students, with an emphasis on supporting the academic achievement and persistence of Tulane University students with learning disabilities (LD) and/or Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD) who participate in these services. The students served by this position have complex and varying needs. Support of these students requires the expertise and teaching skills required to address particular academic challenges common to LD and/or ADHD. This position also requires the ability to address challenges that arise when those disabilities are impacted by other developmental and educational factors. In this capacity, the person in this position will work individually with students and in a group setting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:




Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work or related field






2 years' experience working with students who have learning differences. Professional training in the identification and remediation of learning and other disabilities in an educational setting


Preferred Qualification:




Master's Degree in Education, Special education, or Educational Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling
