Legal Nurse Consultant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) to join our growing healthcare law litigation team. As an LNC, you will work closely with our legal team to provide valuable insight and expertise on medical-related cases. The ideal candidate will leverage their nursing expertise to assist legal professionals in understanding medical records, healthcare standards, and the implications of medical issues in legal cases. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze medical records and documents related to legal cases.
• Provide expert opinions on medical issues and healthcare standards.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions and trials by summarizing medical information.
• Collaborate with legal teams to develop case strategies based on medical insights.
• Educate legal professionals on medical terminology and healthcare practices.
• Conduct research on medical literature and case law as needed.
• Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all case-related information.

Skills and Minimum Qualifications:

• Review and analyze medical records and other relevant documents related to legal cases. 
• Provide expert opinions on medical issues and healthcare standards.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions and trials by summarizing medical information.
• Collaborate with legal teams to develop case strategies based on medical insights.
• Retain medical experts.
• Educate legal professionals on medical terminology and healthcare practices.
• Conduct research on medical literature and case law as needed.
• Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all case-related information.
• Prepare written reports and visual aids to assist in the presentation of complex medical information to non-medical professionals. 
• Attend depositions and trials to provide expert testimony on medical-related cases. 
• Other duties as assigned 

•   Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
• 3 or more years of experience working as an LNC.
• Experience preparing chronologies, case summaries, medical record analyses, and literature reviews.
• Experience retaining and interacting with medical experts.
• Proven experience in clinical nursing and familiarity with legal processes.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
