Job Summary: Principal Investigator will conduct independent research programs. The position will oversee and/or perform a variety of duties involved in the collection, compilation, documentation and analysis of clinical research data as required by the research project. The Principal Investigator is in charge of supervising and training research staff. The position is appointed for four-year periods that are renewable based on grant funding, publications and outcome of the LIBR scientific review process. Principal Investigators receive a portion of their salary through grant funding, either their own grants or working on other funded projects.

Minimum Education: PhD or comparable advanced health science degree in one or more of the following: medicine/psychiatry, clinical psychology with research training/experience, psychiatric epidemiology or biostatistics.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: 0 - 5 years of post-doctoral research training or equivalent research experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High quality scientific activity, as evidenced by publication of papers in peer reviewed journals, conference presentations, talks and etc. Demonstrated ability to secure Independent level funding from NIH. Thorough knowledge of the research area that is the focus of LIBR, including but not limited to research techniques and practices. Ability to design, plan, and carry out research activities with minimal supervision. Ability to supervise support staff, post docs, and student affiliates.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Anticipate and engage in driving delivery of studies by generating new knowledge and asking relevant questions to help prevent, find treatments, and improve mental health. Independently oversee conduct of research lab, protocols and staff. Collect data, analyze, and publish research findings in scientific journals. Maintain positive and productive relationships with colleagues. Contribute to overall research environment at LIBR through service and participation in scientific meetings. Obtain grant funding from Federal, State, and private sources.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.

Working Relationships: High quality scientific activity, as evidenced by publication of papers in peer reviewed journals, conference presentations, talks and etc. Demonstrated ability to secure Independent level funding from NIH. Thorough knowledge of the research area that is the focus of LIBR, including but not limited to research techniques and practices. Ability to design, plan, and carry out research activities with minimal supervision. Ability to supervise support staff, post docs, and student affiliates.
