Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor

This position will work in the capacity of a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) at HealthFinders Collaborative (HFC), offering a variety of services on the recovery continuum, including education, early identification, and individual, group and family interventions to a population that includes Latinx and Somali refugees, as well as individuals who have no insurance or a state-funded plan. The LADC will work with both internal and external partners to address challenges experienced by those who are impacted by substance use, as well as to promote access to services and resources that will support a patient’s wellness, resilience and ability to achieve personally meaningful goals. Services will be delivered in clinical, school-based and other community settings, as appropriate. This position reports to the Treatment Director and is part of HFC’s 245G licensed program.

Primary duties include:

245G Licensed Program

• Maintain licensure and professional liability insurance and inform the Treatment Director of changes in status
• Provide direct clinical and treatment coordination services, in compliance with MN Statute 245G regulations and program policies and procedures : Comprehensive Assessment, Treatment Planning Patient Orientation Treatment Plan Review Patient Discharge, Weekly individual counseling and treatment coordination with assigned patients, Correspondence and collaboration with referral source and other involved professionals, Group psychotherapy and psychoeducation
• Attend weekly multidisciplinary treatment team consultation and treatment plan review meetings
• Attend required staff trainings
• Attend weekly supervision meetings as appropriate
• Participate in marketing and networking initiatives as directed
• Complete clinical documentation in compliance with MN Statute 245G and per program policy and procedure
• Assist with other program duties as needed

Individual and Group Counseling

• Provide individual, family, couples, and/or group counseling to a population that includes Latinx and Somali refugees, as well as individuals who have no insurance or a state-funded plan, at clinical, school-based, and community-based locations. 
• Complete all administrative forms and tasks related to the role of being an LADC at HealthFinders Collaborative, including documentation, caseload management, billing, reporting and program improvement initiatives.
• Provide crisis intervention services and support as appropriate, in collaboration with HFC mental health providers. 

Community Engagement 

• Work with HFC program staff to promote behavioral health and wellness in the community.
• Work with HFC community engagement team to identify unmet needs and develop/tailor programs in response.
• Work with community partners to establish behavioral health programming at HFC and participate in area initiatives.

Care Coordination 

• Co-manage patients with staff and volunteer healthcare providers when appropriate.
• Collaborate with HFC staff and programs to meet the needs of the community and patients.
• Support establishing HFC as a Behavioral Health Home, collaborating with the Mental Health team to advance the mission of the organization.
• Offer and develop programming for the organization, for example support groups, seminars, and presentations.

Program Coordination

• Support developing processes, procedures, workflows, and policies to support and maintain appropriate facility licensure.
• Collaborate with support staff to ensure accurate and timely billing and coding, as well as DAANES reporting.
• Advocate for recovery and provide ongoing education within the community, HFC staff and volunteers.

HealthFinders Staff Duties

• Collect, summarize, and report on data and evaluation metrics in-line with program curriculum, any grant stipulations, as directed by collaborators.
• Attend regular staff meetings and maintain regular office hours at HFC clinic locations.
• Represent HFC’s mission and vision at all times in community.
• Other duties within the scope of work as assigned by the Executive Director or direct supervisor.
• Assist other programs and staff, as arranged with your supervisor. 

• Current LADC licensure through Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy
• Baccalaureate degree within human services fields, such as social work, nursing, sociology, psychology, or nursing
• Experience and competencies providing direct services to patients with mental health diagnosis within a substance abuse treatment program
• Experience with providing person-centered, strengths-based and trauma-informed services. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The LADC must conduct themselves in a manner that is congruent with character etiquette and expectations as a professional and outlined within the staff handbook.
• Freedom from problematic substance use for at least 12 months immediately preceding the hire date and sign a statement attesting to that fact
• Experience working in diverse and dynamic community environments preferred.
• Ability to work proactively and independently, as well as to manage time and competing priorities.
• Excellent team player and ability to work with community partners in a way that is reflective of HFC mission and vision.
• Assessment and Treatment planning skills, as well as familiarity with 245G licensing requirements for documentation and service provision.
• Experience conducting individual and group treatment with adolescents, adults and family members, with the ability to provide documentation to support having worked with those populations. 
• Knowledge of personal and professional development needs, as well as opportunities for continued growth in the field. 
• Experience with case management, facilitating referrals, and building resource relationships.
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team in a positive and cooperative fashion
• Consent to background check and be cleared by DHS to work within a human services program
• If providing services to adolescents an additional 30 hours of classroom instruction or one three-credit semester college course in adolescent development. This training needs to only be completed one time; and at least 150 hours of supervised experience as an adolescent counselor, either as a student or as a staff member.
