Location: Watertown, WI Position Type: Full-Time, Day Shift (.9 FTE) Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts (Friday - Sunday) as part of the Weekend Program (Weekend) Sign-On Bonus: $7,500
Position Overview: Kaeppel Consulting is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for one of our clients’ in Watertown, WI. This role is ideal for an LPN passionate about providing specialized care to elderly patients with mental health needs. You will be part of a collaborative, hands-on care team providing patient-centered care in a 19-bed inpatient psychiatric unit.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care:
Assist in the assessment, planning, and implementation of care for elderly patients with mental health diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and suicide recovery.
Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
Provide therapeutic interventions and manage behavioral crises with a calm, patient-centered approach.
Collaborate with registered nurses (RNs) to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
Collaborative Care:
Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, mental health technicians, and recreational therapists.
Communicate effectively with the care team to coordinate and implement individualized care plans.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with regulatory and facility standards.
Document observations, interventions, and patient progress in the electronic health record (EHR).
Patient and Family Support:
Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
Advocate for patients' physical and mental well-being throughout their stay.
Unit Operations:
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control policies.
Monitor and maintain the therapeutic environment within the unit.
Qualifications:
Licensure and Certification:
Licensed as a Practical Nurse (LPN) by the State of Wisconsin.
CPR (AHA Healthcare Provider) certification required at hire or within 60 days of employment.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of patient care experience in a healthcare facility required.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Compassionate and patient-focused, with the ability to manage behavioral crises calmly and effectively.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
