Job Description - Licensed Practical Nurse - Wound Care

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a full-time role working approximately 72 hours per two-week pay period with flexible day shift hours. This position is based in the Wound Care Department and provides clinical and administrative support in a busy office setting, assisting physicians, nursing staff, and patients while ensuring a smooth, efficient workflow.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current State Board of Nursing licensure

  • BLS certification required (or must obtain within 60 days of employment)

  • Knowledge of infection prevention principles required

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to develop rapport and maintain professional relationships with patients, staff, and providers

  • Self-starter who can work independently and remain productive

  • Proficient with computers, electronic medical records (EMR), email, and office equipment (fax, scanner, copier, phone)

  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions based on the urgency of situations

  • Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to standards and policies

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the guidance of licensed staff

  • Assist physicians and nursing staff with diagnostic and treatment procedures

  • Prepare exam rooms, take medical histories, record vital signs, and assist during exams

  • Manage patient flow, greet patients, schedule appointments, and collect lab specimens

  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks including data entry, pre-certifications, and general office duties

  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment and follow all safety policies and procedures

  • Attend mandatory in-service programs and maintain professional appearance

  • Support teamwork and collaboration to ensure seamless patient care and office operations
