Linen Services Worker

The Linen Services Worker 1 performs one or more of the following duties:  Washes linens, uniforms and other laundry, sorts and weighs loads, irons and folds clean items, and/or distributes linen to and from appropriate destinations.  Relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks.  Works under close supervision.

Job Function:

1. Laundry Equipment Operation: This will have been satisfactorily performed when...
   1. Linen being processed is shaken out and separated into the correct bins based on observation at all times.
   2. Laundry equipment is operated appropriately (loads, operates, and empties washers and dryers) as evidenced by lack of equipment malfunction due to operator error at all times.
   3. Soiled linen is picked up from laundry chutes and other soiled linen holding areas following appropriate handling procedures 100% of the time.
   4. Work area is kept clean on a daily basis as evidenced by lack of debris at all times.
   5. Posted production standards are met or exceeded on a routine basis as evidenced by having zero below standard ratings per month.
2. Quality: This will have been satisfactorily performed when...
   1. Appropriate protective head covering is worn while processing/handling soiled linens and chemicals 100% of time.
   2. The Supervisor or engineer is immediately notified of any potentially unsafe conditions.
   3. Quality checks on linen items are performed as linen passes by on the belt as evidenced by quality audits with a minimum accuracy rating of 95%.
   4. All torn and stained linens are placed in their designated holding carts 100% of time.
3. Linen Distribution: This will have been satisfactorily performed when...
   1. Linen is distributed and delivered to appropriate work areas according to schedule to maintain established par levels at all times.
4. Other duties as assigned: This will have been satisfactorily performed when...
   1. Other duties as assigned are completed.
   2. Acts as a backup for other Linen Service Workers as needed.

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure :

• No experience Required
• Able to read and write; follow verbal and written instructions; equivalent of 8th grade education.
• Able to read and write and follow verbal and written instructions.
