Job Description - Live -out Disabled Care

We are seeking two dedicated and experienced caregivers to provide nurturing and reliable care for an individual with a spinal injury. This live -out position requires around the clock care and is suitable for individuals with a background in healthcare. The person in need of care requires assistance with daily activities and adaptive rehabilitation. The caregiver should be prepared for 12 -hour shift work.

Responsibilities:

Healthcare and Safety:

Provide attentive and compassionate care for the individual, ensuring their safety and well -being at all times. Assist with daily activities, including personal care routines. Administer medication and monitor their health conditions, following the prescribed treatment plan. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure their medical needs are met. Promptly communicate any health concerns or changes to the family or healthcare providers.

Mobility Support:

Assist with transferring the individual to and from their wheelchair or bed, using appropriate techniques and equipment to ensure their comfort and safety. Provide assistance with mobility, such as pushing the wheelchair, accompanying them on outings, or aiding with adaptive exercises as recommended by healthcare professionals. Ensure the wheelchair and any mobility aids are in good condition and properly maintained.

Emotional Support and Companionship:

Engage in meaningful conversations and provide companionship to alleviate feelings of loneliness or isolation. Create a warm and supportive environment, promoting emotional well -being and mental stimulation. Accompany them to social activities or outings to help maintain a sense of connection with the community.

Meal Planning and Dietary Support:

Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, considering their dietary restrictions and preferences. Monitor their food intake and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with the recommended diet. Assist with meal planning and grocery shopping to ensure a well -balanced and suitable diet for their needs.

Household Support:

Assist with light housekeeping duties directly related to their care, such as laundry, cleaning up after meals, and organizing their belongings. Collaborate with the family to ensure the household runs smoothly and efficiently. Occasionally support with grocery shopping and running errands.



Requirements

Care -aid certificate, nursing degree, or equivalent experience. Prior experience working as a caregiver or in a disability care setting, preferably with individuals who have mobility challenges. Strong knowledge of disabled care and understanding of the specific needs related to spinal injuries. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain them). Demonstrated understanding of safety measures and necessary precautions for disabled individuals. Valid driver's license and clean driving record (if driving is required). Respect for individual privacy and confidentiality. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary.
