The primary purpose of this position is to provide excellent member service to current and potential Credit Union members. This is accomplished by providing information on credit union products and services according to credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations. Other duties include evaluating applicants for routine consumer loan requests; processing loan applications; gathering background information; analyzing loan applicants’ credit history; decisioning loans based on this analysis and performing other duties as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES:
Assists current and potential members with the loan application process.
This is accomplished by reviewing all available information on the loan application and credit report; assisting members, branches and indirect dealers with the loan application process to answer applicable inquiries and ensure completeness and correctness of information; and providing a decision on loan applications.
Collaborates with Dealers and Branches to complete the loan decisionprocess
This is accomplished by explaining the loan process to include all loan options, insurance products, loan procedures, policies and guidelines, interest rates and loan payoffs. This may require the member to provide necessary documentation of employment, income, and other credit status verifications.
Responds to the branches for member requests, problems, concerns and/or directs them to the appropriate person for assistance.
This is accomplished by answering current or potential member inquires and indirect dealer inquiries; researching and solving routine member questions, problems, and complaints, and directing the inquiring person to the appropriate department if you are unable to help them.
Providing loan information and guidance on proper loan procedures and loan maintenance to serve our members efficiently.
Assisting with training and procedures on new or changing loan products and systems, providing one-on-one assistance on demand for member service staff assisting member loan requests.
Cross-selling other products and services.
This is accomplished by analyzing the members’ financial situation to best anticipate their needs and then informing branches of any potential cross sale opportunities that they may meet these needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education: A four-year high school degree or equivalent.
Required Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a financial institution environment with at least 2 years’ experience in the loan decision making process or equivalent education and/or work experience.
Required Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of lending guidelines and procedures. Extensive knowledge of Federal and State government regulations concerning loan products.
Preferred Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the indirect lending process and the ability to negotiate with indirect dealers is preferred. Extensive knowledge of Credit Union policies and processes.
Skills and Abilities:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (includes Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook).

Excellent oral communication skills; communicate clearly in all situations, and conduct business over the telephone.
Exhibit strong member service and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, using personal judgment and problem-solving techniques complete tasks in a timely fashion.
Capability of working within a team, with other CU departments, and external service providers.
Other Requirements:
Flexibility to work additional hours and as needed in the evenings and on Saturdays and Holidays on a rotating schedule.
