$19.50-$24.50 per hour · Full-time · Local routes
At the end of a route, the important questions are simple: Did the correct items reach the correct recipients? Can dispatch see what was delivered and what still needs attention? The Local Delivery Driver is responsible for safe transport, professional contact at each stop, and a dependable record of the outcome.
Before leaving, you will review the assigned route and compare the goods with delivery information. At a stop, follow the site instructions, confirm the destination, and complete the employer's proof-of-delivery process. When access is blocked, an item is damaged, or the recipient is unavailable, contact dispatch and follow the instructions for a return or another attempt. Do not leave an uncertain status for someone else to discover later.
A valid licence appropriate to the assigned vehicle and a driving record that meets the employer's requirements are necessary. Delivery experience helps, but a driver newer to route work may be considered if they meet those driving requirements, can follow directions, and handle customer contact well. You will learn the employer's route and record system. The vehicle and exact service area will be explained during the hiring process.
This job involves independent work between stops, but it is not a solo operation. Dispatch and office staff need current information to respond to customers and adjust a route. A timely call about a problem is often more useful than trying to solve a delivery exception without authority. At a busy receiving dock or a residential entrance, communicate clearly and represent the employer respectfully.
The proof of delivery matters as much as the physical handoff. If a customer later asks where an order went, an accurate status and concise note allow the team to answer. Conversely, a rushed entry can create a dispute that cannot easily be resolved. Build the habit of completing the record while the details are fresh.
A local route rarely follows the plan perfectly every day. A business may be closed, a delivery entrance may be temporarily inaccessible, or an item may not match the paperwork. Contact dispatch with the facts and follow the employer's instructions for holding, returning, or rescheduling the goods. Record the reason for an unsuccessful stop clearly. The next driver or customer service colleague should be able to understand what occurred without having to track you down.
Safe driving is not separate from service. Allow for changing conditions rather than rushing to recover time, and do not treat a recipient's request as permission to leave goods in an unsafe or unapproved place. If the route changes, dispatch should know what you can realistically complete. At the end of the day, return goods and route documents through the assigned process, and make sure every stop has a status. This is how the route becomes a reliable record rather than a list of addresses. It gives the next shift a clear starting point and helps the customer get an accurate update.
Provide a resume that shows driving, delivery, customer contact, or other independent work. Make your relevant licence information clear and accurate. We will confirm the vehicle and driving requirements before moving an applicant through the process. If you’re selected for the next step, you may be asked to complete an application on the hiring company’s website. Applicants without previous route work may still be considered when their driving qualifications and service habits fit. Please ensure we have reliable contact details.
