Job Title: Low Voltage Technician Trainee for HVAC Building Automation Technician



Position Overview:  UHL Company will provide on the job training to become a HVAC Building Automation Technician.  UHL Company is a union contractor.  We will help facilitate the process to become a union low voltage member.  You will represent the company by serving as direct contact, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at the customer’s location.


 


Essential Duties / Responsibilities:  Including but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.


Communicate with the customers and their representatives, including building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors and field support staff.


Ensuring compliance with internal contracting processes.


Coordinates with the account managers, the service department and customers to precisely understand requirements for all on-site programming, installation and repairs by extensively examining building layouts, forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work.


Demonstrates the ability to cope with stress and maintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and external customers.


Is responsible for creating and downloading programming, start-up, functional testing, and troubleshooting on assigned projects.


Uses cutting edge software and technology along with a variety of other tools, to troubleshoot local controllers, communication wiring, programs, and schedules to identify concerns and determine corrective action.


Continually enforces safety to the highest standards.


Provides technical guidance to diagnose control system concerns.


Position Requirements:



  • Must pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license.

  • Advanced written, verbal, customer service and relationship building skills.

  • High level organizational skills.

  • Strong Multi‐tasking skills.

  • Flexible, willingness to be able to adapt to change.

  • Ability to work well with others both internally and externally, including in stressful situations.

  • Knowledge of standard office computer programs such as MS Office 365.

  • Knowledge of industry is recommended but not required.



  • Ability to operate effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.

  • Candidates should have at least 2 years of technical and/or field related experience.

  • State of MN power-limited technician (PLT) license is a huge plus.

  • Understanding of Commercial HVAC systems is a huge plus.
