Lower School Head Teachers: General Studies

SAR Academy, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational day school in Riverdale, NY is now accepting resumes for General Studies Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year in the Lower School (grades 1-5). 

Responsibilities:

-Cultivate a warm and caring classroom community

-Develop lessons, unit plans, and curricular materials in collaboration with teaching team

-Lead and facilitate learning experiences 

-Monitor and assess student progress around learning objectives, and differentiate instruction to address individual needs

-Manage the class effectively 

-Maintain open communication with students, parents and administrators

Qualifications:

-Strong ability to connect with students and develop an atmosphere of empathy, respect, and belonging

-Understanding of social, emotional and cognitive development

-Knowledge of best practices and ability to teach Language Arts, Math and Social Studies

-Experience with differentiated instruction within a heterogeneous classroom setting

-Use of educational technology to maximize student engagement

-Ability to problem-solve in a positive, creative and encouraging manner

-Creative, flexible, and open-minded approach to teaching

Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience.
