· Work under the direction of the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide nursing care to patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.

· Under the direction of the primary RN, complete care to assigned patients.

· Performs routine aspects of patient treatment, care and progress (i.e. basic data collection, vital signs, weights, intake & outputs, blood glucose monitoring).

· Complete accurate and thorough documentation of patient care according to departmental, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

· Initiate communication with the primary RN, attending physician, and Allied Health Provider to report patient responses to interventions, significant changes, and to coordinate care for the patient/family.

· Regularly updates patient “communication” boards, is skilled at providing bedside shift report, performs hourly rounds on patients, and applies AIDET as well as other evidence-based behaviors.

· Participate in departmental and organizational initiatives for process improvement and quality assurance, including ongoing professional development.

· Comply with all federal, state, organizational, and departmental policies, procedures, and requirements.

Education:

· High school graduate or equivalent

· Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program

· Must successfully complete Nursing III & Nursing IV within 1 year of hire and provide proof of completion

Certification/Licensure:

· Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license

· BLS through the American Heart Association

· De-Escalation Techniques Course within 3 months of hire

Experience: 1-year experience in Emergency Department

Exposure Categories: Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.

· Incumbent must be able to: distinguish appropriate colors

· Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.

· Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300 lbs.

· Able to manage technical business equipment i.e. phone, fax, computer etc.

· Ability to sit for 3-5 hours per day; Able to stand for 3-5 hours per day; Able to walk for 3-5 hours per day.

· Able to care for patients with infectious diseases.
