LTL Dispatcher

EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time, direct-hire LTL Dispatcher for one of our partners, a busy Chicago-area logistics and freight-handling operation that keeps air and ground freight moving around the clock. In this position, you will run the evening dispatch desk, coordinating drivers and shipments so freight stays on schedule from pickup through final delivery. It is a fast, high-volume role for someone who likes owning the board and keeping every load accounted for.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and dispatch drivers based on customer demand and daily operational needs.
  


• Track and trace shipments from pickup through final delivery, and keep milestone and status updates current in company systems.
  


• Communicate constantly with drivers, warehouse personnel, customers, carriers, and airlines by phone and email.
  


• Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments and monitor driver locations, trip status, and available hours.
  


• Complete and process the documentation required for freight and airline operations, with accurate data entry and dispatch records.
  


• Resolve service issues and communicate delays or exceptions quickly to keep freight on time.
  

Requirements

• Minimum one year of experience in LTL, local, regional, or long-haul dispatch.
  


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  


• Strong communication and customer service skills.
  


• Excellent organization, multitasking, and problem-solving, with strong attention to detail.
  


• Able to work independently and as part of a small team, and available for a 2nd-shift schedule that includes at least one weekend day.
  

• Experience in air freight, freight forwarding, or cargo handling.
  


• Experience coordinating truck moves against airline or terminal schedules.
  


• Comfort learning and working in a proprietary, in-house dispatch platform.
