Machine Operator Specialist/MC1

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Operations

• Operate assigned production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor machine performance and identify deviations from standard operating conditions.
• Follow work instructions, operating procedures, and safety requirements.
• Accurately complete production and quality documentation.
• Perform routine autonomous maintenance activities in accordance with established procedures.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly equipment inspections.
• Clean machines and work areas to maintain equipment reliability and workplace organization.
• Lubricate equipment as required by maintenance schedules.
• Identify and report abnormal machine conditions, wear, or potential failures.
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities as assigned.

Calibration and Equipment Verification

• Perform basic calibration checks and verification activities according to documented procedures.
• Ensure measurement devices and machine settings are operating within established specifications.
• Report any calibration discrepancies to Maintenance or Engineering for correction.
• Maintain accurate calibration and verification records.

Tooling and Changeovers

• Perform tooling changes and machine setup adjustments to support production requirements.
• Verify proper installation and alignment of tooling.
• Conduct first-piece inspections following tooling changes and machine setups.
• Minimize downtime during changeovers while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Troubleshooting and Continuous Improvement

• Perform basic troubleshooting to resolve minor equipment issues.
• Escalate complex mechanical or electrical issues to Maintenance or Engineering.
• Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Recommend process and equipment improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.

Safety and Quality

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
• Support housekeeping efforts and 5S initiatives.
• Closed-toe shoe required
• Must use proper ergonomics when lifting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• PLC knowledge preferred.
• Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
• Experience with autonomous maintenance practices is preferred.
• Experience performing machine cleaning, inspections, tooling changes, and calibration verification preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Familiarity with calibration equipment and measurement tools.
• Experience performing machine setups and tooling changeovers.
• Basic computer skills for production and maintenance documentation.
