Your Impact 

Voortman Drill Operator – 2nd Shift  $2 Pay Increase after training and start on 2nd shift


  • The Voortman Drill Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring automated Voortman CNC drilling and processing equipment used in structural steel fabrication. The operator ensures machines are properly set up and running, verifies material and production specifications, performs quality checks, and maintains a safe and efficient work environment.


Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Operate Voortman CNC drill line equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Load, position, and secure structural steel beams and other material for processing.

  • Review work orders, CNC programs, and production specifications.

  • Set up machines and verify tooling, drill sizes, and program settings before production.

  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain production and quality requirements.

  • Inspect finished material for correct hole placement, dimensions, and overall quality.

  • Identify machine problems, tooling wear, and production issues and notify supervision when necessary.

  • Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.

  • Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment as authorized.

  • Maintain accurate production records.

  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.

  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and PPE requirements.

  • Communicate production status, equipment issues, and material concerns to the supervisor.

  • Meet established production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management


Qualifications



  • Previous experience operating CNC machinery, drill lines, or structural steel fabrication equipment preferred.

  • Experience with Voortman equipment is a strong plus.

  • Ability to read shop drawings, measurements, and production instructions.

  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and other inspection equipment.

  • Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with supervisors and coworkers.

  • Machine-operation experience preferred.

  • Ability to work second shift and overtime when required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

Employees must be able to talk, hear, and frequently sit, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Regular lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs is required. Vision requirements include close and color vision and focus adjustment. Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, chemicals, electrical hazards, and explosives. Noise levels can be very loud, requiring ear protection. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
