Maintenance Technician

McMurry University is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support campus operations by performing routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and general facility upkeep across all university buildings and grounds. The ideal candidate will have a broad skill set in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. 

Job Duties: 

• Performs all aspects of plumbing from repairs to installation new equipment


• Perform paint, sheetrock, & carpentry repairs on any and all systems and facilities on University-owned property.


• Basic troubleshooting for electrical circuits.


• Observes and reports discrepancies.


• Discusses tasks and projects and suggests appropriate methods for completion.


• Submits work order completion reports completely, timely, and accurately.


• Operates vehicles, equipment, and hand/power tools as necessary.


• Maintains and cleans tools and equipment used in daily activities.


• Cares for and maintains tools, equipment, keys, uniforms, and other items issued.


• Assists other personnel as directed.


• Cleans tools, equipment, and work areas as directed.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

• High school graduate or GED.


• Knowledge of plumbing repairs, and installation of plumbing equipment.


• General knowledge of paint, sheetrock repair, and carpentry.


• Experience with hand and power tools.


• Knowledge of basic safety requirements, procedures, and techniques.


• Ability and willingness to learn new skills, knowledge, and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications: Trade school graduate

Minimum Required Education: High School/G.E.D.

Physical Demands: 

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing during the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
