Job Summary:
The City of Greeley is seeking a Maintenance Technician or Water Systems Technician I–IV to join the Reservoirs team, reporting to the Reservoir Supervisor. This position performs the operation, inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of the City’s potable water storage and transmission infrastructure to support the safe and reliable delivery of drinking water.
Responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining treated water reservoirs, screens, seals, sodium hypochlorite feed systems, air/vacuum valves, water system valves, transmission lines, and related infrastructure. The position monitors water quality parameters, including free chlorine residual and pH using handheld analyzers, and performs duties in accordance with applicable CDPHE Regulation 11 requirements, storage tank requirements, and City policies and procedures.
The position also supports routine and emergency repairs throughout the transmission and distribution system, operates a variety of vehicles and equipment, maintains accurate work records in CityWorks, and assists with materials and inventory management.
Work is performed primarily in the field and may require working in confined spaces, excavation trenches, around live traffic, near heavy equipment, and in varying weather conditions while following established safety procedures. This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule and responds to after-hours and emergency callouts as needed.

Essential Functions:
Perform monthly inspections of potable water storage tanks, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure in accordance with applicable CDPHE requirements, City procedures, and established inspection schedules.
Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair treated water reservoir components, including screens, seals, valves, and related equipment to maintain system integrity and water quality.
Climb elevated water storage tanks and structures to perform inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and other maintenance activities while following required fall-protection and safety procedures.
Operate and monitor the water transmission system, including valves and related infrastructure, to maintain appropriate water flow, system reliability, and operational conditions.
Monitor, inspect, maintain, repair, and adjust sodium hypochlorite feed systems to maintain appropriate disinfection and water quality requirements.
Monitor water quality parameters, including free chlorine residual and pH, using approved testing equipment; document results and respond to conditions outside established operating parameters.
Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair air/vacuum valves, water system valves, transmission lines, and associated components throughout the water system.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and assist with routine and emergency repairs of potable water reservoirs, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and related equipment.
Safely operate hand and power tools, pickup trucks, loaders, dump trucks, and other vehicles and equipment required to perform maintenance, repair, and construction activities.
Perform work in confined spaces, excavation trenches, near live traffic and heavy equipment, at elevated heights, and in varying weather conditions in accordance with established safety procedures.
Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, water quality, inventory, and asset records and complete assigned work orders and documentation in CityWorks.
Assist with materials, equipment, and inventory management to ensure necessary resources are available for routine maintenance and emergency response.
Perform site cleanup and restoration following maintenance, repair, excavation, and construction activities.
Coordinate with Water & Sewer staff, contractors, and other City departments as needed to complete maintenance and repair activities and minimize disruptions to the water system.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours emergencies, system issues, and urgent repair needs as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel - Regular Local/Field Based Travel: This position requires regular travel within the County and nearby cities. Employees frequently travel to field sites, client locations, or other City building as part of their job duties. Access to a personal or City fleet vehicle may be required.
