American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification; BLS certified
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT0 certification in Mammogram within one year of hire.

Equipment (Experience And/Or Training)
Minimum Requirements - Diagnostic Equipment.
Specialized Training
Minimum Requirements - Ama Accredited Nuclear Medicine Program Or Equivalent.
Preferred At Hire - Pacs
Computer Skills (Hardware & Software)
Minimum Requirements - Crt/Hospital Computer System
Other Skills And Competencies
Demonstrates Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal. Diplomacy, Tact, And A Positive Approach To Problem Solving Are Required To Be Successful. Organizational Skills Are A Must-Have. Fosters A Teamwork Environment. Must Be Able To Communicate With Patients, Customers, Other Departments, And Staff In An Articulate Manner.

Job Description:

1.Performs and assumes responsibility for the safety of the patient during their examination.
2.Review patient medical history and support clinical information.
3.Ensure that the examination order is complete, contains relevant information, and meets the standard of “medical necessity.”
4.Evaluate any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination and associated procedures.
5.Communicate with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient’s ability to understand.
6.Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition and musculoskeletal injury to the technologist or patient.
7.Conduct patient clinical assessment and perform the examination ordered by the supervising physician in accordance with professional and facility protocols.
8.Apply independent judgment during the examination to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images.
9.Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refer specific diagnostic, treatment or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional.
10.As necessary, acquire additional imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician.
11.Identify and document any limitations to the examination.
12.Review examination images, synthesize examination information.
13.Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refer specific diagnostic, treatment or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional.
14.Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies and procedures.
15.Adhere to accepted professional and ethical standards.
16.Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for radiology
17.Assist with the daily operation of the imaging department.
18.Assist with the education and training of radiology/ mammography students and physician residents.
19.Transport patients as needed.
20.Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Adolescence: 13 - 17 years; Young Adult/Adult: 18 - 64 years; Adult/Middle-Aged: 65 - 79 years; Geriatric: 80+ years
