That\u2019s where you come in!\n\nThe Role\n\nWe\u2019re looking for a Manager, Data Science to help us make better, faster, and more confident decisions for Magic: The Gathering: Arena. You\u2019ll take on complex, undefined problems, develop models to predict outcomes, and guide how we use analytics to understand player lifecycle and identify growth opportunities.\n\nThis is a hands-on role for someone who can see both the big picture and the details \u2014 translating complex business questions, leading analysis projects, and helping shape our long-term player strategy. You\u2019ll partner with Arena Business leaders, Economic Analysts, Data Engineers, and Go-To-Market teams to drive data-informed decision making.\n\nWhat You\u2019ll Do\n\nWe rely on our analysts and scientists to bring clarity to complexity. In this role, you will:\n\n * Analytics \u2013 Develop empirical models to investigate the MTG: Arena Player lifecycle, digital play format preferences, and interactions with analog play formats.\n\n\n * Modeling \u2013 Drawing on your aforementioned analyses, develop projections of revenue and engagement impact. Apply those models to inform digital game design, go-to-market executions, and play format strategies.\n\n\n * Ecosystem \u2013 Partner with other analysts to better understand Magic fandom from longtime fans to the new fans.\n\n\n * Flex \u2013 While your focus is Arena players, occasionally dive into other aspects of Magic to help us learn and grow the entire ecosystem. \n\n\n * Reporting \u2013 Build dashboards and performance reporting in Tableau to provide real-time visibility into player lifecycle interactions and key KPIs.\n\n\n\nWe value curiosity and initiative. We expect you to look for better ways to measure success, simplify processes, and help others make sense of complex information.\n\nWhat You\u2019ll Bring\n\nWe\u2019re looking for someone who combines technical depth with business sense:\n\n * 8+ years of experience conducting predictive and causal analysis\n * Degree in finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, or another quantitative discipline; graduate degree strongly preferred\n * Self-directed, ability to drive projects to completion and proactively communicate timelines and document processes\n * Capable of translating smart questions into rigorous research plans, and translating quantitative estimates into actionable findings for non-technical audiences\n * Experience conducting quantitative analyses in Python, R, or another programming language\n * Working knowledge of SQL\n * Knowledge of and familiarity with trading card games, and especially Magic: The Gathering, is a strong bonus\n\n\n\nWe know that great scientists don\u2019t just deliver reports \u2014 they help teams see what matters, ask better questions, and make decisions with confidence.\n\nWe are an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer\n\nWizards of the Coast is committed to equality of opportunity in all aspects of employment. The hiring range will vary based on factors such as experience, skills, location and market conditions.
