Job Overview: 

The Manager of Housekeeping is responsible for leading all housekeeping and environmental services operations to ensure a safe, clean, and exceptional shopping experience for customers and a productive work environment for colleagues. This role oversees housekeeping associates, maintains high standards of cleanliness throughout the store, manages vendor relationships, and ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures. The Manager of Housekeeping plays a critical role in supporting Bloomingdale's luxury brand presentation and customer experience.

Essential Functions:

Leadership & Team Management

• Recruit, train, coach, and develop housekeeping associates to deliver exceptional performance and service.
• Create and manage schedules to ensure adequate staffing based on business needs.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and operational excellence.
• Lead daily huddles and communicate priorities, expectations, and performance results.

Housekeeping Operations

• Oversee daily cleaning and maintenance of all customer-facing and non-customer-facing areas, including: 
  • Selling floors
  • Fitting rooms
  • Restrooms
  • Offices and breakrooms
  • Stockrooms
  • Receiving areas
  • Elevators and escalators
  • Exterior entrances and common areas
• Ensure all housekeeping standards are consistently executed in accordance with Bloomingdale's brand expectations.
• Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective action plans when needed.
• Maintain inventory and ordering of cleaning supplies, equipment, and consumables.
• Monitor housekeeping expenses and manage budgets effectively.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental standards.
• Maintain proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Conduct safety audits and address potential hazards promptly.
• Partner with Asset Protection and Operations leadership to support emergency preparedness and incident response procedures.
• Ensure all required documentation, inspections, and certifications are completed accurately and on time.

Vendor & Facilities Coordination

• Manage relationships with external cleaning and maintenance vendors as needed.
• Partner with Facilities, Operations, and Asset Protection teams to support store maintenance initiatives.
• Coordinate deep-cleaning projects, floor care programs, and special events preparation.
• Track service quality and ensure contractual obligations are met.

Customer & Colleague Experience

• Support a welcoming and pristine environment that enhances the luxury customer experience.
• Respond promptly to customer and associate concerns regarding cleanliness and facility conditions.
• Collaborate with store leadership to maintain presentation standards throughout the building

Qualifications and Competencies:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of housekeeping, facilities, environmental services, or custodial management experience.
• 2+ years of leadership experience supervising teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, chemicals, and safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workforce management systems.

Preferred

• Experience within luxury retail, hospitality, healthcare, or large commercial environments.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs.
• Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.
• Bilingual communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate housekeeping equipment and machinery safely.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
