Manager II, Field Process (Technical Manager)
Role Summary
Lead customer process engagement, new product introduction (NPI), and successful transition to high volume manufacturing (HVM). Drive process performance, resolve technical escalations, enhance customer satisfaction, and cross-functional execution while building a high-performing field process engineering team
What you will be working on
Customer & Technical Leadership
NPI & HVM Programs Execution
- Lead NPI programs through qualification and successful HVM adoption
- Ensure on-time delivery of process and product milestones
- Drive process performance, tool uptime, and customer success in HVM transition phase
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Partner with ASM R&D, Product Engineering, KPU, Business Units, Field Service, and Sales teams to execute technology programs
- Align stakeholders on priorities, action plans, and execution timelines
- Provide customer feedback to improve product and process performance
- Support technology roadmap development with internal and customer teams
Team Leadership / Business & Strategic Impact
- Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing process engineers
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement
- Build a team capable of independently solving complex technical challenges.
- Support business growth through successful technology adoption and customer satisfaction
- Create visibility into key technical issues and drive execution across organizations
What we are looking for
- PHD or Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, 9+ years with a Master's degree, or 6+ years with a PhD in the semiconductor industry, with strong expertise in thin-film processes such as PEALD, PECVD, LPCVD, ALD, Epitaxy, or Vertical Furnace
Proven ability to manage new product and process introduction, as well as the transfer of complex deposition processes and hardware from R&D to HVM.
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership with a proven track record of driving and implementing organizational change
Proactively manage escalations, develop action plans, and maintain clear communication among customers, service teams, business units, and external suppliers
- Ability to travel as needed, including extended periods for training and technical engagement with the Business Unit and customer sites. The primary customer focus will be onsite in Boise, Idaho
Strong understanding of intellectual property boundaries between ASM and customers, with the ability to maintain appropriate IP protection during all internal and external interactions
- Experience working effectively with local, regional, and global teams, with strong cross-functional and cross-division collaboration skills
What sets you apart
5-10 years of broad semiconductor technical experience combined with strong business acumen. Experience in Memory (DRAM and Advanced Memory) and/or Advanced Packaging is highly desirable.
Experience working for a semiconductor equipment supplier, a strong customer-focused mindset, and prior people management experience are strong advantages.
