Manager, Industrial Hygiene Services

Testing Engineers & Consultants, Inc. (TEC) is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygiene Manager to join our growing Environmental & Industrial Hygiene team.

This is an opportunity for a motivated professional to take a leadership role in managing projects, developing client relationships, mentoring staff, and helping shape the future growth of TEC’s industrial hygiene practice.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and hands-on industrial hygiene and environmental health professional who enjoys a combination of project management, staff mentoring, technical problem-solving, client interaction and field work. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of projects while working collaboratively with engineers, environmental professionals, technicians, and clients.

What You’ll Do

• Manage industrial hygiene and environmental health projects from initial scope through completion, including scheduling, staffing, budgets, field activities, reporting, and client communication.

• Conduct and oversee industrial hygiene surveys, exposure assessments, and workplace monitoring for chemical, physical, and biological hazards.

• Oversee  or perform hazardous materials surveys ,asbestos bulk sampling, lead based paint evaluation, air sampling, noise monitoring, ventilation evaluations, and other industrial hygiene assessments.

• Manage and provide technical oversight for asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, indoor air quality, and hazardous materials projects, including surveys, assessments, sampling, reporting, and project documentation.

• Develop and oversee asbestos, lead, and mold management programs, including recommendations for corrective actions, abatement, remediation, and ongoing management.

• Interpret laboratory and field results and prepare clear, technically sound reports and recommendations.

• Develop and update industrial hygiene monitoring programs, procedures, and written plans.

• Provide technical guidance related to OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, and other applicable requirements.

• Review technical reports, sampling plans, field documentation, and project deliverables for quality and accuracy.

• Provide technical direction, training, and mentoring to industrial hygiene staff and field technicians.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.

• Participate in client meetings, site visits, presentations, proposals, and business development activities.

• Identify opportunities to expand TEC’s industrial hygiene and environmental services and support continued growth of the practice.

• Promote safe work practices and maintain compliance with TEC’s quality assurance and safety procedures.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum 7 years of progressive industrial hygiene and/or environmental health experience.

• Experience with exposure assessment, workplace monitoring, sampling methodologies, and interpretation of analytical results.

• Demonstrated experience with asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold assessments and management, including surveys, sampling, reporting, and coordination of abatement or remediation activities.

• Working knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA regulations and applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements.

• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.

• Ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Michigan.

Preferred:

• Asbestos, lead, mold or other certifications . CIH certification or active pursuit of CIH certification is a plus, but is not required.

• Experience managing and mentoring industrial hygiene professionals and field technicians.

• Experience developing industrial hygiene monitoring programs and written procedures.

• Experience preparing proposals, scopes of work, and project budgets.

• Additional industrial hygiene, safety, asbestos, lead, mold, or environmental certifications.
