Manager of Human Resources & Employee Relations

Rock Voices is a regional network of no-audition adult community choirs united by a single mission: healing ourselves and others through song. With 30+ choirs, 3,000+ members, and 100+ live concerts per year across nine states, the organization is entering a pivotal growth phase — strengthening its people operations, formalizing HR systems, and building a scalable HR infrastructure to support continued growth. 

We're hiring our first Manager of Human Resources & Employee Relations — a hands-on HR professional who loves solving real problems for real people, building clarity where there isn't any, and helping a mission-driven arts organization operate smoothly. This is a full-time, hybrid role, requiring some travel for organizational meetings and events. 

This is not a "maintain the status quo" role. There is no status quo. This is a builder position focused on practical systems, day-to-day HR operations, and employee relations across a diverse, multi-state team. What You'll Own

Employee & Member Relations

• Serve as the primary HR point of contact for choir directors and staff
• Manage employee-relations issues, member-relations escalations, and sensitive conversations
• Support performance management, coaching, corrective action, and terminations
• Maintain personnel files and documentation

Compliance & Risk Management

• Monitor multi-state labor law and payroll compliance
• Oversee compliance training and required postings
• Manage workers' compensation cases and leave programs (FMLA, disability, maternity)
• Provide regular compliance and payroll reports to leadership

Onboarding & Training

• Coordinate hiring and onboarding with our managed HR/payroll provider
• Manage background checks and required employment documentation
• Lead onboarding and training for new employees

Payroll & Benefits Coordination

• Partner with our Managed Payroll provider on payroll processing and compliance
• Coordinate payroll garnishments and PTO/sick time tracking
• Support benefits administration and employee questions

HR Infrastructure & Organizational Support

• Build practical HR processes, policies, and documentation
• Support organizational design, role clarity, and communication standards
• Help strengthen culture, consistency, and the member experience across all choirs

 What You Bring

• 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in multi-state environments
• Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and payroll coordination.
• Experience administering core HR processes, including onboarding, leave & PTO administration, benefits coordination and personnel records
• Deep experience with employee relations and conflict resolution.
• Ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
