Under general direction, administers and directs programs related to the regulation, control and prevention of pollution from oil and gas operations; enforces Commission rules and regulations concerning oil and gas production and environmental protection.
The incumbent of this position is assigned responsibility for directing the Pollution Abatement Department of the Oil and Gas Division and related programs involving commercial and noncommercial oil field waste disposal operations, pollution abatement activities and reclamation projects on a statewide basis. Direction will be provided to a professional, technical and administrative staff including geologists, engineers and environmental specialists.
Statutory Requirements: 52 OS 149 (2) Supp 1999; “Shall be a graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science of Degree in petroleum, civil or mechanical engineering, geology, environmental science or a related field and at least five (5) years practical or regulatory experience in the production of oil and gas, three (3) years of which must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
NOTE: No substitution will be allowed for the three (3) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
Knowledge of geological, hydrological and engineering principles; of pollution prevention, abatement and reclamation procedures; of oil and gas drilling and completion operations; of state and federal laws, rules and regulations concerning pollution control and environmental protection; of technical report writing; and of the principles of management and supervision.
Skill in directing the work of others; in interpreting, analyzing and resolving complex administrative and managerial problems; in communicating ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; and in establishing effective working relationships with industry officials, other state and federal officials and the general public.
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
The work location will be in the Oklahoma City office of the Corporation Commission. Core work hours for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission are Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. This position is not remote work eligible.
