Manager, Production

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Manager, Production is responsible for planning and managing production for all kitted product at the NTFB, which not only ensures the distribution of quality product, but is integral to the food bank’s first-in-class volunteer experience. This position leads the production staff and facilitates various inventory functions to fulfill production demands. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; able to maintain key vendor relationships
• Skilled speaker and comfortable giving verbal instructions to groups of all sizes and ages
• Ability to prioritize and handle simultaneous assignments in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong technical skills utilizing CRM and ERP systems
• Working knowledge of database management, inventory management and forecasting tools
• Ability to create and maintain budgets
• Experience with a forklift and motorized pallet jack is preferred

Experience: 

• 2 years of experience in a warehouse, production or distribution environment
• Supervisory experience preferred

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage builds and projected forecast to align volunteer resources to meet production goals; develop the production plans for finalization
• Oversee the planning and organization of the kitting production process to ensure availability of inventory, equipment, and labor resources required for each project
• Report production builds and output on a weekly basis
• Confirm availability of raw materials and facilitate physical movement of kitted product throughout the production process
• Optimize volunteer resources to ensure high-quality and cost-effective kitted product
• Responsible for estimating and monitoring expected output for each volunteer effort and adjusting production plans to balance availability of volunteers, product and program needs
• Provide quality control of inventory management
• Enforce the NTFB Operational Master Cleaning Plan and ensure that staff follows all applicable safety policies and procedures
• Design and develop work plans, process improvements and policies
• Promote a positive work environment where staff feels engaged, valued, and motivated
• Equitable and timely leadership of performance management and team objectives
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a team of 4 direct reports

• The person in this position needs to adapt well in the face of workplace stressors such as customer complaints, maintaining the security of people and property, and competing priorities of reasonable or high significance to the successful function of the unit.
• Must be able to gather and classify information for the purposes of notifying those impacted

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; bend; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
• Ability to operate electric pallet jack, forklift and scissor lift and other warehouse equipment following completion of mandated training

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

• Moderate to loud noise (e.g., light traffic business office with open floor plan with computers, phone, and printers, and medium to heavy traffic in the warehouse with music, forklifts and pallet jacks)
• This person should have the ability to work in varying internal (hot and cold) temperature levels in the warehouse.
• Varying schedule Monday - Saturday, 8:30AM - 5:00 PM, with some evenings
• Able to participate in events outside the traditional workday schedule on occasional weekends
