Murphy’s Family Staffing is hiring a skilled Manual
Machinist for a busy hydraulic repair and remanufacturing shop in York,
PA. If you’re the kind of machinist who can think through a repair,
hold tight tolerances, and confidently run manual lathes and mills (not
just push buttons), this is a strong long-term opportunity.

This role supports real industrial work — hydraulic
cylinders, rods, pistons, glands, precision machining, repair machining, and
rework. The shop is known for tackling large, high-stakes hydraulic
components and quality-driven work. (Garrod Hydraulics)

Pay

What You’ll Be Doing

• Set up
  and operate manual engine lathes and manual mills (Bridgeport-style)
  
• Machine
  and repair hydraulic cylinder components (rods, pistons, glands,
  sleeves, etc.)
  
• Measure
  and hold tolerances using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore
  gauges
  
• Read
  and work from prints, sketches, and dimensions
  
• Perform
  repair-style machining: fit-up, rework, salvage, and precision
  correction
  
• Maintain
  clean, safe work habits in a production/repair environment
  

Requirements

Requirements

• Manual
  machining experience required (lathe + mill)
  
• Strong
  measuring skills and tolerance awareness
  
• Ability
  to read prints / interpret dimensions
  
• Mechanical
  mindset (repair work, not just repetitive parts)
  
• Reliable
  attendance (the team depends on you)
  
• Driver’s
  license + reliable transportation
  

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience
  with hydraulic cylinder repair/remanufacturing
  
• Experience
  machining large parts / heavy industrial components
  
• Background
  in shops doing repair work, not just production runs
