ABOUT PUMP RELIABILITY SOLUTIONS
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, Pump Reliability Solutions repairs and services rotating equipment for refining, chemical, power, and pipeline operators across North America. We're trusted by three of North America's largest refining companies and five of the ten largest U.S. pipeline operators, and we move faster than OEM repair timelines without cutting corners — because every hour of downtime costs our customers. We're more than a repair shop; we're a team of problem-solvers dedicated to keeping operations running.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a Manual Machinist to operate conventional machines and handle semi-complex jobs, working from blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, and engineering, tooling, or equipment information. You'll contribute to lean initiatives that increase productivity and reduce costs, and work with limited guidance in a team environment. This role requires experience with lathes, VTLs, milling machines, and HBM machines, along with strong blueprint reading skills.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Set up and run multiple production machines
• Perform machine operations where materials, tooling, and sequence have been pre-planned and established
• Accurately and regularly perform statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements
• Actively implement lean initiatives by identifying and suggesting areas for improvement
• Apply lean concepts and tools effectively in your work area
• Follow established manufacturing methods using standard production machines, materials, and tooling
• Make necessary machine adjustments and report improper machine functioning or cutting action for correction
• Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts per documentation
• Operate hand and power tools to deburr precision and complex machine parts in accordance with semi-complicated engineering blueprints and route sheets, to close tolerances
• Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using gages, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and magnification equipment (including microscopes) to detect and avoid damage to critical surfaces
• Perform align bores
• Observe all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintain a clean, orderly work area
• Take on other related responsibilities as requested
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 5+ years of experience running an HBM machine and performing align bores on pumps (preferred)
• Experience with lathes, VTLs, milling machines, and HBM machines
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications, and follow verbal instructions
• Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry
• Comfortable making machine set-ups with limited guidance
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Genuine enthusiasm for lean manufacturing principles
