Job Description - Manufacturing Production Operator

The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials engineers high performance functional and structural ceramic materials, components and sub-assemblies to address customer-specific technical challenges.

Responsibilities






  • Operate and monitor a variety of manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to CNC machines, slide-forming machines, rolling mills, and/or furnace systems
  • Set up machinery with appropriate tooling, dies, cutters, guides, molds, and cores according to specifications and work orders
  • Perform production tasks such as wire loading, spooling materials, charge preparation, melting, casting, and forming operations
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, hardness testers, and comparators
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and production documentation
  • Complete work orders, production logs, and other required documentation accurately
  • Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process and make adjustments as needed to meet specifications
  • Maintain adherence to process controls, including temperature, measurements, and material composition where applicable
  • Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and assist in maintaining proper material chemistry and specifications
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S/6S standards
  • Follow all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Minimize waste and prevent scrap or contamination through proper handling and processing techniques
  • Assist with material handling and equipment setup, including use of cranes or other lifting devices where required
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned








Qualifications






  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of manufacturing experience (e.g., stamping, wire forming, machining, casting, or related field) preferred
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with production systems
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Basic math skills, including use of decimals and measurements
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials of moderate to heavy weight
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Continuous visual and mental attention to detail during production operations

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing/industrial setting with exposure to machinery, heat, and noise
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
