Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman\u2019s Space Sector is seeking a Manufacturing Technician \u2013 Level 1 to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be supporting our Copper Crossing Value Stream (CXVS) facility.\n\nRole description \u0026 Responsibilities:\n\nA Manufacturing Technician performs hands on activities/tasks associated with manufacturing of composite rocket cases. Tasks may include but are not limited to Tooling Assembly/Disassembly, Case Surface Preparation, winding composite equipment operation, maintaining cleanliness of the work area and facilities, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. These candidates must participate as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety, quality, cost and schedule of their team.\n\nA-Shift: This is a weekday, day shift position (12 hour shifts, rotating Thursdays). Overtime is worked as necessary.\n\nRequirements:\n\n\u2022 Must be willing to perform shift work and overtime, as required. This could include weekends and holidays.\n\n\u2022 Must possess a valid state driver\u2019s license \n\n\u2022 Required to perform safe handling of hazardous waste materials for disposal. \n\n\u2022 Possess ability to understand and apply stringent procedures to assigned duties. \n\n\u2022 Safe handling of equipment and materials in a manufacturing environment\n\n\u2022 Operating industrial equipment such as bridge cranes, forklifts, precision measuring instruments and hand tools.\n\n\u2022 Ability to read blueprints.\n\n\u2022 Able to monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control and design specifications. \n\n\u2022 Ability to weigh material for mixing process.\n\n\u2022 Ability to work with resins and carbon fiber.\n\n\u2022 Ability to work with chemical cleaning process such as an industrial degreaser.\n\n\u2022 Ability to work with aluminum oxide cloth.\n\nSkills \u0026 Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Able to work a physically demanding day (stand for long periods; work from your knees; ascend and descend ladders; lift, bend, twist push and pull up to 50 lbs.) while wearing protective equipment (respirator, coveralls, gloves, eye and ear protection, etc.).\n\n\u2022 Able to read, comprehend and follow established written instructions without deviation \n\n\u2022 Perform basic math and measurement functions\n\n\u2022 Ability to start and end helicals and hoops in carbon winding process, following planning requirements.\n\n\u2022 Able to continuously monitor machinery to ensure winding is completed according to established planning and procedures.\n\nBasic Qualifications for a Level 1:\n\n\u2022 High School Diploma or GED\n\n\u2022 0-1 years manufacturing experience.\n\nPreferred Qualifications: \n\n\u2022 Prefer Associates degree or Technical Certificate related to composite material.\n\nCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
